RULES & GUIDELINES

  • Two hunters, one dog, 12 shells, 30 minutes
  • No exchanging of shells ( Each hunter will have 6 shells)
  • Time will start when dog is released. Time will stop when the last bird has been shot and is in possession of either hunter or time has elapsed.
  • Scoring will be: Most birds, Least amount of shots, Least amount of time.
  • NO RUNNING. First warning: lose one shot, second warning will result in loss of one bird. Third warning will result in disqualification.
  • Only birds shot will be scored. If dog traps a bird, it may be released and shot. The bird must make an attempt to fly on its own.
  • No ground sluicing
  • Rooster and hens will be released
  • Birds must be flushed within field boundaries. If bird is shot and falls out of bounds, the bird may be retrieved for a score. Hunter and dog may leave the field.
  • Hunters may not walk around kicking cover in an attempt to find birds. In the event of a wild flush, bird may be shot for a score.
  • Each team will have the opportunity to find and flush six birds only. If last bird is missed, time will stop when last shot is fired.
  • If dog from other field enters your field, time will stop. Dog in violation will be disqualified. If bird has been flushed due to interfering dog, a rerun will be granted.
  • NO PERSON WILL BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE UNDER THE INFLUENCE. ANY PERSON CAUGHT DRINKING PRIOR TO THEIR TEAM RUNNING SHALL BE DISQUALIFIED.
  • Each contestant shall conduct themselves in a sportsman like manner
  • No electric training collars or dummy collars.
  • Field judges and field marshals decisions are final.
  • Dogs must retrieve birds. You may not touch the bird in any manner to get the dog to retrieve.
  • If bird flies into field, team may not take a passing shot. Dog must relocate the bird.
  • Hunters may not throw anything at a running bird to make it fly.
  • Dog may leave the field up to two minutes before being disqualified.
  • If there is a question on a judge’s call, it is to be discussed with Brad and not the judge in the field. Any competitor using profanity or unsportsmanlike like attitude towards any judge in the field will get a DQ immediately!!
  • If your dog is actively trailing a scent and the birds takes off out of bounds, the shooter may kill the bird for a score. The shooter MUST be inside the boundary in order to count the bird. The key is the dog is ACTIVELY trailing, dogs will not be allowed to roam out of bounds to jump birds. Those will NOT count.

I will post running order on website Thursday night. I will only call first three team for each field.  Please call with any questions. Brad
